Thermal Ablation

Although it may sound complicated, Endovenous Thermal Ablation Treatment, or EVTA, is a very safe medical procedure that uses a catheter with a heating element to treat vein disease. Performed in less than 60 minutes in most cases, EVTA does not require hospitalization, and recovery time is usually just a few hours.

In EVTA, your physician will use ultrasound guidance to insert a small catheter into the diseased veins. The tip of the catheter delivers heat to collapse veins that have unhealthy valves. Most patients report little discomfort with the procedure.

Results

After EVTA, the treated veins are absorbed by the body, and circulation is improved as blood flow diverts to healthy veins.
